Coyote Athletics Announces New Hires in Athletic Training, Compliance

07.12.2024

VERMILLION, S.D.—University of South Dakota Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine Colby Keegan and director of compliance Mike Moran are excited to announce athletic trainer Kendal Johnson and assistant director of compliance Mariah Pansegrau as new hires.

Hailing from Naperville, Illinois, Johnson comes to USD after completing her Master of Science in Athletic Training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison this spring. As a part of her time in the program, Johnson spent time with the Stanford University softball team, the Creighton University volleyball team, and the Creighton University crew team as an Athletic Training Immersive Student. Johnson earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Kansas. She has her CPR certification and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.

"We are thrilled to have Kendal join our staff," Keegan said. "This will be the first time that our softball team will have a full-time athletic trainer and her experience with softball at Stanford will be tremendous for our student-athletes. She will also be a great asset to our sports medicine team as a whole."

Pansegrau, a Westfield, Iowa native, joins the compliance staff at USD after over five years with Anytime Fitness. Pansegrau served as a General Manager for Anytime Fitness until being promoted to District Manager in 2020, working in customer service and operations.

"We are excited to have Mariah join the compliance team," Moran said. "She comes to us with a great background in customer service and that will transition over well to helping provide our coaching staff with compliance requirements."

Pansegrau graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in sports marketing. Pansegrau also holds CPR and AED certifications.
