Harden Earns Roster Spot; Trio of Coyotes to Represent USD in the NFL

08.28.2024

VERMILLION, S.D. — Three former University of South Dakota football players will represent the Coyotes in the National Football League (NFL) this season, including a pair of Yotes earning spots on active rosters going into the 2024 season.

Myles Harden | CB | Cleveland Browns | 2020-23
Announced Tuesday afternoon by the Cleveland Browns, former Coyote cornerback Myles Harden was named to the Cleveland Brown's 53-man roster.
A seventh round NFL Draft pick back in June, Harden (2020-23) was named to the active roster for the Browns entering the 2024 season. Harden came off a 2023 campaign for the Coyotes where he was named to all four major All-America teams (AFCA, First Team; STATS Perform, First Team; Phil Steele, First Team; AP, Third Team) and being named one of two FCS players to be named a semifinalist for National Comeback Player of the Year.

Harden played in 29 games in his three full seasons at South Dakota, recording six interceptions and recording 26 pass break-ups. He was a menace for opposing offenses, forcing five fumbles in his Yotes career and recovering four. He notched 143 career tackles with 12.5 being for loss.

The Browns open the season against Dallas in Week 1 in Cleveland. Kick-off is slated for 4:25 p.m. (ET)/3:25 p.m. (CT) from Cleveland Browns Stadium and airing on FOX.

Jack Cochrane | LB | Kansas City Chiefs
Former USD linebacker Jack Cochrane enters his third season with the Kansas City Chiefs, after signing with Kansas City as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He was originally signed to KC's active roster in September 2023, after signing a practice squad contract in August 2022.

He has played in 32 games for Kansas City in his two seasons and has recorded 26 total tackles and a pass deflection.

Cochrane (2017-21) was a member of two of South Dakota's three trips to the NCAA FCS Playoffs (2017, 2021), including anchoring the defense and linebacking corps as a senior on the 2021 roster when he led the team in solo tackles (54) and total tackles (103). His senior year also saw him record a career-best four interceptions.

In his five seasons of college football, the Mount Vernon, Iowa native played in 46 games and recorded 327 tackles. He had 23 tackles for loss and had 16 pass break-ups.

The Chiefs will open the 2024 season Week 1 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City when they play host to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night football (September 5). Kickoff is slated for 7:05 p.m. (CT) and will air on NBC.

Brock Mogensen | LB | Dallas Cowboys
Joining Harden in his rookie season following a standout career in the red and white will be former USD linebacker Brock Mogensen.

The Minnesota native spent six seasons at USD and turned into one of the premier defensive players in the FCS. In his final season in 2023, Mogensen (2019-23) recorded 113 tackles, which sat 15th in the FCS, and ended his career with 399 tackles. The season saw him earn four different All-American selections and the team captain would wind up finishing 11th in the Buck Buchanan award voting for the nation's top defensive player.

Dallas waived Mogensen earlier today but will sign him to a practice squad contract heading into the 2024 season.
