LARAMIE, Wyo. – The Coyotes played in their final non-conference match of the 2024 season Sunday afternoon, falling to Wyoming 4-0 Sunday afternoon at Wyoming.
The Coyote offense managed six shots, but only had one in the first 45 minutes. Wyoming had the shot advantage in the first half 3-1 and converted on an opportunity in the 39
th minute to make it 1-0 at the half.
Wyoming played the final 40 minutes of the contest with a player advantage after a red card on the Coyotes. USD was able to get a couple of scoring chances despite the disadvantage, totaling five shots in the half, but couldn't get an equalizer. Wyoming padded the lead with three goals in the final 10 minutes of the match.
Mali Van Meeteren totaled two shots for the Coyote attack. Defensively,
Cambell Fischer had five saves in goal for the Coyotes. The Cowgirls outshot USD in total shots 21-6 and shots on goal 8-0.
The Coyotes return home with a 2-5-2 record and are searching for their first victory of the season away from the First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex. USD will have its next chance to pick up a road win in the conference opener at St. Thomas on Sept. 26.
