ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Coyotes started the 2024 Summit League season with a point in the standings, playing to a 0-0 draw with St. Thomas Thursday afternoon in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The Coyotes doubled up the Tommies in shots and shots on goal but were unable to get one past the St. Thomas goalkeeper. In goal for the Coyotes,
Cambell Fischer recorded a shutout, saving two shots on target.
Offensively,
Sam Luft played the full 90 minutes, recording two shots, both on goal for the Coyotes. In total, USD had eight shots, four on target. The backline for South Dakota was more aggressive Thursday, totaling three of the eight shots.
Brooke Conway and
Ashby Johnston had the other two shots on goal.
USD had six shots, three on goal in the first half, doubling up the Tommies in both categories for the first 45 minutes. The second half was more even on the attack, but ultimately both sides ended up without a score.
With the draw, USD moves to 2-5-3 on the season and are 0-3-3 away from Vermillion. The Coyotes next two matches are back on the home turf as they host Omaha at 6 p.m. Thursday and Kansas City 1 p.m. Sunday.
