VERMILLION, S.D. — Helping the Coyotes transition from NCAA Division II to Division I,
Ramsey (Kavan) Fitzsimmons ('10) had a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships and runner-up performance in the 5,000-meter (outdoors).
A transfer from Notre Dame, she helped guide the Yotes into their Division I era in her three seasons in Vermillion. She captured five All-America honors in the Coyotes final season in Division II, while being named the 2008 North Central Conference's Most Valuable Performer at the indoor meet as a sophomore. Additionally, she won the Great West Conference's Indoor Athlete of the Year honor twice (2009, 2010), and the 2008 Great West Runner of the Year.
She won 14 event titles at conference meets in three seasons between the NCC and the Great West and was the school's first conference champion at the Division I level. Upon graduation, Fitzsimmons held six individual and two relay records.
Fitzsimmons married fellow track and field athlete, Sean Fitzsimmons. The pair reside in South Sioux City, Nebraska with their three children, Aurora, Callum, and Kieran.
