ST. PAUL, Minn. — South Dakota basketball fell on the road Saturday night to St. Thomas 119-104 at Schoenecker Arena.
In a high scoring contest that saw the two teams combine for 223 points, each team knocked down double-digit 3-pointers and attempted 40 or more free throw attempts on the night. The Yotes were 13-of-23 from deep and 31-of-43 from the free throw line, while the Tommies were 14-of-27 beyond the arc and 35-41 from the charity stripe.
Isaac Bruns had an efficient night as he poured in a team-high 22 points on 7-for-11 shooting, 3-of-4 from deep and had three assists.
Chase Forte added 21 points on 6-of-11 shooting and was 9-for-12 on free throws.

The Bruns brothers scored the first eight points of the night for USD, and following five straight from Bullock, the Yotes led 13-12 five minutes into the game. The lead changed hands four times, and the score was tied six times, but it was St. Thomas who ended the half strong. With four minutes before the break, back-to-back UST triples gave the Tommies their first double-digit lead of the night, 49-39. The Yotes, however, would bring it back to single-digits before intermission with a 3-pointer from
Max Burchill and USD would trail 60-51 after 20 minutes.
UST expanded its lead to its largest of the night, 79-60, four minutes into the second half. The Yotes would work to shrink the Tommies lead, and following a Burchill bucket, the deficit was back to single digits 97-88 with 7:14 remaining. The Tommies, however, would hold off the Coyotes late push and earn a 119-104 win.
