SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- South Dakota women's tennis posted a 7-0 blanking of Sioux Falls on Friday morning inside Huehter Family Match Pointe.
The Coyotes (2-1) won all nine matches contested against a scrappy Sioux Falls squad.
"Sioux Falls played a good match and pushed us in a few spots," head coach
Brett Barnett said. "We didn't play as sharp as we could've but did a great job getting out of some tricky score spots on courts."
South Dakota won the three doubles matches while dropping only a combined three games.Â
The senior duo of
Grace Chadick and
Bea Havlickova moved to 2-0 on the season at No. 2 doubles while the Coyotes other two doubles teams are now 2-1. The sophomore pair of
Sorcha Caves and
Amanda de Oliveira at No. 1 and
Selena Bird and Natalia de Lima at No. 3.
Chadick made quick work of her singles match, dropping just one game, to move to 2-1 on the season. De Oliveira earned her first singles win of the season at No. 2.
Bird, also moving to 2-1, bumped up a spot and won at No. 3 singles while the two freshmen each earned their first collegiate singles wins during the dual season.

Havlickova battled through her No. 1 singles match and in moving to 3-0 on the season also earned her 60th career singles win, marking just the fourth individual to reach that mark in the Division I era.Â
"We did a great job playing with confidence once we got up some sets and moved forward very well," said Barnett. "It's been a good week for us. Â
"We're a work in progress but off to good start. We need to rest and recover and get ready for a good challenge on the road next week."
