01.31.2025

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Coyotes started the DeLoss Dodds Invitational with a pair of event wins, including a school record, and a handful of top three showings Friday night in Manhattan, Kan.

Both event wins came on the men's side, as Mason Sindelar (1,000-meters) and Landon Olson (high jump) earned victories. Sindelar's 2:21.01 in the 1,000 set records for the facility and meet, as well as the school record, previously held by Shane Roder (2003). Olson won his third high jump competition of the season by clearing 6-11 ¾ Friday.

Coyotes took second behind Sindelar and Olson in their respective events as well. Caleb Rivera ran 2:21.96 in the 1,000 and Joe Lynch cleared 6-9 ¾ in the high jump. On the track, Jade Ecoffey added a third place finish in the 1,000-meters with a time of 2:53.41.

In field events, the Coyotes added strong showings in the women's pole vault and high jump and in both weight throws. In the pole vault, Cassidy Mooneyhan took second at 14-0. Marleen Mülla and Gen Hirata, both competing unattached this winter, also cleared 14-0 Friday night. In the women's high jump, Danii Anglin cleared 5-7 ¼ to place third.

In the throwing events, Coyotes took second and third in the women's weight throw and third in the men's weight throw. Lydia Knapp took second at 64-6 ¾ and Delaney Smith third at 64-4 on the women's side and Wyatt Pruce took third at 57-1 ½ on the men's side.

Outside of the top three finishes and Sindelar's school record, one Coyote Top 10 mark was reached. Matayah YellowMule's 19-2 ½ performance in the long jump moves her into a tie for sixth in Coyote history in the event. She is now inside the top 10 in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump.

Two Coyote men competed in the first four events of the heptathlon Friday. Derek Eidsness sits in 6th with 2,699 points and Townsend Barton is ninth with 2,561 points. Eidsness won the shot put with a mark of 40-2 ¾. Heptathlon action continues Saturday beginning at noon.

Action in individual events begins at 2 p.m. on the track and in field events Saturday.
