PREVIEW: Coyotes set to Host North Dakota State and North Dakota in Summit League Matchups

VERMILLION, S.D. – The South Dakota Women's Soccer team returns to First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex this week for a pair of Summit League contests against the North Dakota schools. The Coyotes open the week with North Dakota State on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m., followed by North Dakota on Sunday for a 1 p.m. kick. 

THE COYOTES 

South Dakota enters the week with a 5-2-4 overall record, coming off a 2-0 victory over St. Thomas this past Sunday. The Coyotes are led offensively by forward Klarissa Vega, who has tallied six goals and two assists so far this season. Vega sits in second place in the Summit League for total goals this season so far. Brooke Conway currently sits in 5th place in shots total in the Summit League. In goal, Campbell Fischer continues to be a steady presence, recording three shutouts and 31 saves through 11 matches. 

THE OPPONETS 

North Dakota State 
The Coyotes open the week against North Dakota State (4-8-0), who fell 2-1 to Denver in their most recent outing. The Bison are led by midfielder Morgan Russmann, who has recorded three goals and four assists on the season so far. Russmann leads the Summit League in shots and shots on goal. South Dakota trails the all-time series against NDSU, 6-15-1, and will look to narrow that margin on home turf. 

North Dakota 
South Dakota will wrap up the homestand on Sunday against North Dakota (6-4-2), who will first face South Dakota State on Thursday. The Fighting Hawks come into the week 0-0-1 in Summit League play following a draw with Denver. Forward Charlie Basinet leads UND with five goals and three assists this season. The Coyotes hold a slight edge in the all-time series, 17-14-6. Grace Miller in goal for UND leads the Summit League in shutouts (5), and in saves (52).
