OMAHA, NEB. – The South Dakota Coyotes women's soccer team secured a 2-0 win over Omaha on Thursday evening, powered by a shutout performance from goalkeeper Kelsie Luqin and goals from Ashby Johnston and Klarissa Vega.
First Half
The Coyotes wasted no time getting on the board, as Ashby Johnston scored on South Dakota's first shot of the match following a well-placed pass from Izzy Quintavalle. Later in the half, Klarissa Vega extended the Coyotes' lead to 2-0 with a composed finish from the penalty spot in the 35th minute.
Second Half
Despite holding a two-goal advantage, South Dakota continued to apply pressure throughout the second half, outshooting Omaha 9-6. Kelsie Luqin recorded three saves to preserve the clean sheet and seal the Coyotes' victory.
