LARAMIE, Wyo. – South Dakota women's basketball suffered its first loss of the 2025-26 season in its final game of the month of November, tripping up at Wyoming Saturday afternoon 66-59.
Â
South Dakota had more points off turnovers, second chance points, paint points and bench points in the game, but went 0-for-11 from three while Wyoming converted 4-of-14. The Cowgirls also converted five more free throw attempts than the Coyotes. It's the first time since January of 2020 that the Coyotes failed to convert a three-pointer.
Â
Two Coyote guards were the driving force behind the offense.
Angelina Robles had her second straight 20-point scoring game (third this season) and her first career double-double, totaling 20 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. The other Coyote who found a rhythm was
Molly Joyce. Joyce scored her season's best 17 points, most for her in a Coyote uniform in the win.
Â
Wyoming outscored the Coyotes in each quarter but were never able to stretch the lead to double digits. The Coyotes kept things close in the first half, taking brief leads throughout the first and second quarters, but couldn't build a two-possession lead at any point in the half.
The Coyotes shot exactly 6-for-17 from the field in each of the third and fourth quarters and forced 12 Wyoming turnovers in the second half to stay in the game. South Dakota cut the lead to a single possession at multiple points throughout the half, including in the final two minutes when Joyce converted a driving layup, got a steal on the defensive end, and scored on another layup to make it 58-55, Wyoming, with 1:58 to play. The Coyotes weren't able to break through and tie the game.
Â
Overall, Robles' double-double was the highlight of the day for the Yotes. She's scored in double figures in seven straight contests, three of which over 20. Joyce scored in double figures for a fifth time this season and a third straight game.
Â
Next up, South Dakota heads further west on Wednesday, taking on Portland State as a part of the Big Sky-Summit Challenge Wednesday night. The game is scheduled for 9 p.m. Central Time, 7 p.m. in Portland.
