Fens got the scoring started with a layup in the first minute of play, but Kansas State answered right back with a triple and would hold the lead the rest of the way. Bruns connected on his first of three treys as K-State led 8-7, but a 21-4 Wildcat run over the next five minutes of play opened up their lead to 29-11 near the midway point of the first half. Kansas State held a 57-34 advantage at the intermission.
Kansas State led by as many as 24 points in the first half behind a 67.6 shooting percentage with seven triples. While Bruns had 12 points to pace the Yotes, PJ Haggerty poured in 16 on 8-of-8 shooting for the Wildcats.
While the Yotes offense found its footing in the second half shooting 53.3%, they were unable to slow down the Kansas State attack that shot 56.3% in the final 20 minutes and 62.1% for the game.
