Coyotes pick up three weekly honors

02.04.2025

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the second time in three weeks, the South Dakota Track and Field program received three of the four Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Week honors, announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

South Dakota's Caleb Rivera, Sara Reifenrath, and Spencer Buley received honors this week after their performances at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational in Manhattan, Kan. North Dakota's Kenna Curry received the fourth weekly honor.

Caleb Rivera (Gr., Distance, St. James, Minn.)
Caleb Rivera is this week's Kwik Star Summit League Indoor Men's Track Peak Performer of the Week. Rivera set the school record in the mile run Saturday at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational, running 4:03.01 to win the event and set the record. Rivera's time is the top time in the Summit League this season.

Rivera also ran in the 1,000-meters Friday night for the Yotes, placing second in 2:21.96 behind teammate Mason Sindelar, who also broke the school record in the 1,000.

This is Rivera's first Summit League weekly honor.

Sara Reifenrath (Sr., Sprints, Hartington, Neb.)
Sara Reifenrath is this week's Kwik Star Summit League Indoor Women's Track Peak Performer of the Week. She competed in three events over the weekend. Friday in the 200-meters, she took fifth with a time of 24.17.

Saturday, Reifenrath took the 400-meter title in 54.35, the best time in the Summit League this season. She also ran on the 4x400-relay that tied the seventh fastest time in school history at 3:46.34. That time ranks second in the conference this year.

This is Reifenrath's ninth weekly honor.

Spencer Buley (Sr., Pole Vault, McKinney, Texas)
Spencer Buley is this week's Kwik Star Summit League Indoor Men's Field Peak Performer of the Week. After back-to-back weeks of tying his personal best in the event, he set a new personal record with a clearance of 17-5 ¾ Saturday.

Buley placed third in the event Saturday with that clearance, but moved into fifth in the Coyote record books for the event. His height ranks second in the Summit League this winter.

This is Buley's first weekly honor.
