School record falls at Texas Relays Friday

AUSTIN, Texas – Mason Sindelar and Caleb Rivera combined to break three school records during the indoor season, and those two, teamed up with Tommy Nikkel and Tommy Hensley to set the first school record of the 2025 outdoor season Friday at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
 
The team of Sindelar, Nikkel, Hensley, and Rivera broke the men's distance medley relay school record Friday evening, running 9:46.63 to place second in the event and beat the 26-year-old school record by nearly eight seconds (Gade/Eckert/Neugebauer/Feeldy; 9:54.09).
 
The Coyote women's distance medley group of Jade Ecoffey, Sydney Stodden, Ellie Thomas, and Mariah Fenske ran a 12:01.96, good for sixth on the Coyote Outdoor Top 10 list, and placed seventh in the event. The women's 4x400 relay advanced to the finals by winning their heat in a time of 3:47.19.
 
It was a busy day for the Coyote sprinters and hurdlers on the track. On the men's side, Jaden Damiano (14.19) and Mikael Grace (14.77) competed in the 110-meter hurdles. Damiano's 14.19-time places him sixth on the Coyote Outdoor Top 10 list. Jaden Guthmiller ran 10.72 seconds in the in the 100-meter first rounds. Ken-Mark Minkovski ran 11.04 in the 100-meter time final.
 
In the 100-meter hurdles, Averi Schmeichel ran 13.8 in the first round to place 18th. In the timed finals section of the 100-hurdles, Sophie Amin ran 14.49, improving on her 14.92-time Thursday at the Bobcat Invitational.
 
In field events, Joe Lynch competed in the High Jump section B, clearing 6-9 ½ (2.07m) to place seventh. Carsen Staehr made the finals in the triple jump section B, placing ninth with a jump of 47-10 (14.58m).
 
Action resumes at 10 a.m. Saturday morning from Austin.
 
BOBCAT INVITATIONAL
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Delaney Smith continued her strong opening weekend Friday at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos.
 
Smith carried the momentum of a good performance Thursday into Friday with a third-place finish in the B section of the shot put. Smith recorded a fifth-round throw of 45-9 (13.94m) to finish on the podium.
 
In the A section of the women's pole vault, Cassidy Mooneyhan and Gen Hirata both cleared 13-9 ¼ (4.2m) to place sixth and seventh respectively. Kailee Swart and Eliza Aitken cleared 12-9 ½ (3.9m) during competition Friday. On the men's side, Spencer Buley tied for fourth and Tre Young tied for ninth in the A section of the pole vault, both clearing 16-10 ¾ (5.15m). Wyatt Stewart and Beau Karst cleared 15-11 in the event.
 
After competing at the Texas Relays earlier in the day, Jaden Damiano competed in the 400-meter hurdles Friday night at the Bobcat Invitational. He ran 54.10 seconds in the event to place 15th. Teammate Aidan Hedderman ran a 58.78 in the event.
 
Jaden Guthmiller and Ken-Mark Minkovski both ran in the 100 at the Texas Relays earlier in the day Friday, but ran 22.33 and 22.54 respectively in the 200 Friday night in San Marcos. To wrap up the night from the track, Natnael Kifle ran 3:55.76 in the 1,500-meters, placing 15th.
 
Action resumes Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
