VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota men's basketball head coach
Eric Peterson has announced the signing of Ethan Kizer, a transfer from the University of South Alabama, to the 2025-26 recruiting class.
Kizer, hailing from Metamora, Illinois, prepped at Metamora High School and has spent the last two seasons at South Alabama. Kizer appeared in 17 games with six starts in the 2023-24 season and averaged 1.9 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. Kizer redshirted the 2024-25 season. He scored a career-high 11 points with three 3-pointers against Spring Hill on December 9, 2023.
Coming out of high school, Kizer was a three-star prospect and the No. 13 recruit out of the state of Illinois by 247 Sports. Kizer led Metamora to a runner-up finish in the Illinois 3A State Championship game. Kizer averaged 12.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game, while shooting .432 percent from the field and .387 percent from deep.
Kizer is the second transfer signed by the Yotes this spring and joins Josiah Dotzler, Vince Buzelis, Uzziah Buntyn and Jesse McIntosh to the 2025-26 recruiting class.
