SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota men's basketball had three players named to the Summit League Academic All-League team Wednesday.
Paul Bruns and
Max Burchill received the honor was the second straight year, while
Isaac Bruns was voted to the team for the first time.
Paul Bruns, a senior from North Sioux City, S.D., started in 21 games and appeared in all 33 contests for the Coyotes this season. Bruns carries a 3.69 GPA while working towards a finance degree at USD. Bruns was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. He averaged 8.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
Burchill, a native of Sioux Falls, S.D., played in all 33 games with 31 starts in his final season at USD. Burchill held a 3.75 undergraduate GPA and maintains a 3.71 GPA while he works towards a Masters of Finance. He was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. Burchill averaged 4.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
Isaac Bruns, a sophomore from North Sioux City, S.D., started in 16 games and appeared in all 33 games. He was named a Summit League All-League Honorable Mention after averaging 14.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.8 steals per game while shooting .467 percent from the field. Bruns was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. Bruns carries a perfect 4.0 GPA while working towards his undergraduate degree in Business.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Summit League team, athletes must hold a 3.3 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and compete in 50% or more of their team's competitions. Athletes are nominated by their school's sports information director for the sport and voting is done by each member institution's SID's and Faculty Athletic Representatives.
