VERMILLION, S.D. – The University of South Dakota had five teams earn a perfect multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) following the 2023-24 academic year in data release by the NCAA national office.
 
South Dakota women's basketball, men's cross country, men's golf, men's track & field, and volleyball received perfect rates of 1,000.
 
Each academic year, every Division I sports team across the country calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn a point for remaining eligible and another point for staying in school or graduating. For schools that do not offer scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked. The most recent NCAA APR includes data from the 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24 academic years.
