VERMILLION, S.D. — The University of South Dakota women's soccer team and head coach
Michael Thomas has announced the addition of
Alyssa Granno to his coaching staff for the 2025 season this fall.
"We are excited to add Alyssa to the staff. She is a good young soccer mind who has experiences in California, Colorado and Texas," said Thomas. "We believe she will be a positive influence both for the soccer program and the University."
Granno joins the USD soccer staff following a two-year stint at Regis University (Colo.) where she concluded her soccer career in the Division II Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as a midfielder. In her first season as a Ranger, Regis posted a 14-5-1 (9-2-1 RMAC) record and a third-place finish in the RMAC. In her two seasons at Regis, she played in 19 matches and posted seven shots and one assist.
"I am super excited to join the women's soccer program at USD and begin my pursuit in this profession," commented Granno.
Granno also coached soccer at the youth level from 2023-24 at Steamboat Soccer Academy where she coached and mentored 20+ youth campers.
Prior to her time at Regis, Granno started her career at Sierra College (Calif.) where she started all 42 matches she played in in her two seasons. She recorded two goals and 10 assists.
Granno also brings more than 10 years of social media experience to the program, earning her bachelor's degree in communications with a focus on public relations from Regis in 2025. She also earned an associate's degree in natural science and behavioral science from Sienna College.
