Coyotes home opening battle ends in tie

VERMILLION, S.D. — The home opener for the South Dakota Coyotes ends in a 1-1 tie vs Northern Iowa Thursday night at First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex.

The Coyotes came out strong in the first half of play recording 14 shots compared to UNI's three. That energy transferred into the 2nd half through Kyla Brown recording the first goal of the season at the 48 minute mark assisted by Klarissa Vega.

After the first goal by the Yotes, the Panthers started to heat up their offensive pressure in the 2nd half, only having one less shot then the Coyotes for the rest of the match. The Panthers evened the game up 1-1 at the 66 minute mark.

Campbell Fischer had a game for herself recording four saves on the day with three of them in the first half. Brooke Conway was one among the Yotes to heat it up on the offensive end having four shots, two on goal for the game. Gabbie Ryan also had four shots with one on goal.

Next stop for the Yotes will be Sunday on the road to Des Moines, Iowa to face off against the Drake Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on ESPN+. Shape______________________________________________________________________________
