VERMILLION, S.D. — Coyotes Women's Soccer picks up first win of the season in Des Moines with a 2-1 victory over Drake behind goals from Klarissa Vega and Brooke Conway.
The South Dakota Coyotes Women's soccer team was on the road today for their first away match against the Drake Bulldogs. The Coyotes put the pressure on the Bulldogs early in the first half registering five shots with four of them being on goal. Klarissa Vega earned her first career goal today during a penalty kick at the six-minute mark and Brooke Conway assisted by Sophie Kasel scored to put the Yotes up two nil with only three minutes left in the first half.
The second half had more offensive pressure from the Bulldogs as they made 3 more shots in the second half compared to the first. Drake ended up scoring their first goal of the match at the 54th minute mark. Coyotes goalkeeper Campbell Fischer registered one save on the day but a crucial save late in the second half to secure the win.
Brooklyn Bordson and Izzy Quintavalle also lead the charge on the offensive side with both registering a shot on goal.
The Coyotes are back in Vermillion this week versus Kansas State Thursday August 21st and Saturday August 23rd versus Morningside.
Both matches will be streamed live on Summit League Network powered by Midco Sports Plus.
