Record-Setting Year for the Yote Fund

08.05.2025

VERMILLION, S.D. — The University of South Dakota athletic department saw record-breaking numbers for the Yote Fund in the 2024-25 academic year, bringing in just shy of $14.5 million dollars to the athletic department.

"Coyote Nation is unbelievable. We are so thankful for our fans and supporters who continue to meet the moment as we navigate some crazy times in Division I college athletics," said Athletic Director Jon Schemmel. "It is also important to recognize the incredible work done by Ben LeCompte and the rest of the Yote Fund staff. We have overhauled our entire team and operation and they have exceeded expectations every step of the way!"

The department saw a 400+ percent increase in total cash and pledges, $14.44 million. Of that total, $5.7 million was cash received. Both numbers sit second-best in USD Athletics history and are the highest outside of the department being in a capital campaign.

The existing record year for the Coyotes was on the heels of Coyotes former Athletic Director, David Sayler, closing the largest gift in the history of USD Athletics from Sanford Health, of $20 million.

The Howling Pack also saw a record year between direct donations and its annual events. The Howling Pack fund brought in over $1 million in direct donations and another $1.1 million between the Sanford Coyote Golf Tour and the Calling All Coyotes auction, presented by CorTrust Bank.
