Farris wins third straight Summit League weekly honor

09.16.2025

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — For a third straight week, the Summit League Kwik Star Defensive Player of the Week honor has been awarded to South Dakota's Kamryn Farris. It's Farris' sixth weekly accolade of her career.

Farris becomes the first Summit League player to win the defensive award three times in a row since South Dakota's Anne Rasmussen in 2019. Rasmussen also accomplished the same feat in the 2017 season.

She tallied 58 digs over the weekend and held a 5.27 digs per set average. She matched her season-high of 25 digs for the third time in the five-set win over Florida Gulf Coast Friday night. Farris also notched her third career double-double, and second of the season, against FGCU with 13 assists. She had 17 digs and two aces in a sweep of Green Bay and 16 digs vs No. 17 Kansas Saturday.

Farris leads the Summit League in digs with 170 and digs per set at 5.00. She has 50 more digs than the next highest player and is the only player averaging over 4.3 digs per set. Farris ranks No. 14 in the NCAA in digs per set and No. 16 in total digs.

South Dakota closes out its preseason schedule this weekend with the South Dakota Classic starting on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Villanova.
