VERMILLION, S.D. — For the second game in a row,
Cameron Fens had a dominant showing as South Dakota basketball earned its ninth win in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center 99-83 over Kansas City Thursday night.
Fens broke out for new career highs of 31 points and 15 rebounds, with seven off the offensive glass, and swatted two shots. The Coyote big man was efficient, going 10-of-14 from the field and 11-of-14 from the free throw line. Fens went to work early and often, recording a double-double in the first half alone with 19 points and 10 boards.

Isaac Bruns who poured in 22 points, his third straight game with over 20. He filled the stat sheet with seven rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.
Jordan Crawford had the hot hand from deep, connecting on four 3-pointers on his way to 16 points.
Uzziah Buntyn was the leader for a Coyote squad that tallied 17 assists on the night, as he dished out six assists and had 10 points.
Behind Fens' big night, the Coyotes scored 48 points in the paint and had 16 points off 12 offensive rebounds. The Yotes shot 50.7% from the field and knocked down 10-of-25 attempts from range.
The Roos scored the first bucket of the game, but the Yotes pounced with a 12-2 run to build an early lead that they'd hold for the remaining 38 minutes of play. South Dakota's offense was humming near the midway point of the first half, when three straight 3-pointers from Buntyn and Crawford started a 15-2 run to jump ahead 29-10 with 9:33 to go in the first half. USD would extend the lead to 22, after a pair of free throws from Fens, marking its largest lead of the first half (49-22) with 3:06 remaining. Crawford sent the Yotes into the halftime break with a 56-36 lead as he beat the buzzer and connected on his third triple of the first half.
Bruns was the leader in the second half with 14 points, while Fens had 12, as the Coyotes held a double-digit lead for the entirety of the second half. A Bruns triple capped a 9-0 streak that saw the Coyotes grab their largest lead of the night, 84-59, with 9:37 remaining. The Yotes shot 50.0% from the field in the second half and cruised to a 99-83 win.
The Coyotes will hit the road for their next two games starting this Saturday against North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
