VERMILLION, S.D. – The fifth annual Native American Heritage Game will take place during the University of South Dakota women's basketball team's home game against the Denver Pioneers on Saturday, January 17th, with tip-off scheduled for 1 p.m.
The event will feature a pre-game Native American student-athlete honoring, the Lakota Flag Song, special performances and more. During halftime, Supaman, an Apsáalooke musician and fancy dancer from Crow Agency, Montana, will perform.
The USD women's basketball team features a Native American student-athlete this season in
Josie Hill (Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate), a senior. This marks the third time a women's basketball game will be part of this celebration.
The first four Native American Heritage Games have averaged over 600 Native American students and alumni in attendance for the festivities in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
