VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota men's basketball head coach Eric Peterson has announced the additions of Silas Bennion and Trent Hudgens to the 2025-26 men's basketball roster. Both are immediately eligible for competition.
Bennion most recently played for the University of Jamestown where he was a First Team NSAA All-Conference selection last season and a 2023-24 First Team All-GPAC honoree. He led the Jimmies in scoring a season ago with a 16.5 points per game average to go with 3.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game. He poured in a career-high of 38 points against Dickinson State in his junior season (2023-24). In his two seasons at Jamestown, Bennion scored 984 points while shooting 47.7% from the field with 104 3-pointers at a 39.4% clip. He spent his first two collegiate seasons at Lewis-Clark State College.
Hudgens made stops at Santa Clara, Northern Colorado and most recently at Arizona Christian (2022-25) where he was a 2023-24 NAIA Third Team All-American and All-GSAC. He appeared in 74 games, starting all 74, for Arizona Christian where he scored 988 points on a 51.5 shooting percentage while knocking down 86 triples. The Firestorm the GSAC Regular Season Championship all three years Hudgens was on the team.
