VERMILLION, S.D. — The 120
th all-time meeting of the Interstate Series, presented by First Interstate Bank, between South Dakota and South Dakota State on the gridiron will kickoff at
3 p.m. (CT) on ESPNU on Halloween (October 31), the network announced on Monday in collaboration with the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC).
Entering this week, the Halloween clash between the two Division I South Dakota schools will be a top-10 battle, marking the first time both teams have been ranked inside the top-10 since the 2024 meeting in Brookings.
The annual Interstate Series game between the two South Dakota schools dates back to the first game back in 1889 and is the second-longest FCS rivalry, by total meetings, west of the Mississippi River. Since then, it's been an even series with the Jackrabbits holding a slight edge, 58-54-7 in the all-time series.
Heading into this year's football meeting, the Jackrabbits hold a 1.5-0.5 lead through two games (women's soccer, volleyball) played in the 2026-27 series. South Dakota won the 2025-26 series by the score of 11.5-8.5.
