KILDEER, Ill. — South Dakota men's golf finished runner-up Tuesday at the Kemper Lakes Intercollegiate, placing second behind Drake with a three-round score of 894 (+30) at Kemper Lakes Golf Club.
The Coyotes carded matching 292s in the opening two rounds before posting a 310 in Tuesday's final round. Drake won the team title with an 886 (+22), while South Dakota State placed third at 901 (+37).
Jack Holtz led the Coyotes individually, finishing second overall at even-par 216. Holtz opened with a 72 before firing a 4-under 68 in the second round, the lowest round of the tournament by a South Dakota golfer. Holtz closed with a 76 Tuesday.
Joe Rohlwing followed in third place at 219 (+3). Rohlwing opened the tournament with a 3-under 69 and added a 71 in the second round before finishing with a 79 in the final round.
Cole Witherow tied for fourth at 223 (+7). Witherow carded rounds of 74, 75 and 74, earning his second top-five finish in a row after finishing runner-up at the Badger Invite last week.
Christopher Whittle finished tied for 44th at 238 (+22), while Lance Hamak placed 53rd at 244 (+28).
Competing individually, Drew Larimer finished 51st with a 240 (+24).
South Dakota will return to action on October 19th and 20th to wrap up the fall season at the Zach Johnson Invite in Des Moines, Iowa hosted by Drake.
