Coyotes fall 5-2 against Montana

VERMILLION, S.D. – The South Dakota women's tennis team dropped a 5–2 decision to Montana on Friday afternoon at the Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls.

The Grizzlies claimed the doubles point by taking two of three matches. USD picked up its lone doubles win at No. 2, where Anna Medvyedyeva and Keta Shavishvili edged Paige Bott and Kaylin Kielty, 7–5. Montana answered with wins at the top and bottom spots, including a tight 7–6 (7–5) victory at No. 1 to secure the early 1–0 advantage.

Montana carried that momentum into singles play, winning three straight matches to clinch the dual. The Grizzlies earned straight-set victories at Nos. 2 and 3 before Kelsey Phillips closed out a 7–5, 6–2 win over Medvyedyeva at No. 1.

USD showed resilience late in the lineup. Cassy Marra delivered a comeback win at No. 4, rallying past Bott 6–7 (6–8), 7–6 (7–4), 10–5 in the match tiebreaker. Natal Alves De Lima added the Coyotes' second point with a solid 6–4, 6–2 victory over Kielty at No. 6. The final singles match at No. 5 went to Montana, as Shivika Agrawal outlasted Shavishvili in a third-set tiebreaker.

South Dakota moves to 3–2 on the season, while Montana improves to 1–3.
