South Dakota welcomes transfer Ava Miller

04.27.2026

VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota women's basketball head coach Carrie Eighmey is pleased to announced the signing of transfer Ava Miller, a forward with two years of eligibility remaining.

Miller spent last season at North Dakota after her freshman year was spent at USC Upstate. She averaged 7.9 points and 7.2 rebounds while starting 28 of the 31 games she appeared in for the Fighting Hawks. In her 31 games at UND, Miller was a 46.6% shooter from the field and a 71.4% free throw shooter.

"We are excited to welcome Ava to our program!" Eighmey said. "Ava has proven her ability to make an impact on both ends of the floor and has Summit League experience! She's a physical forward who can score in the paint and can also space the floor as a threat from the arc. She gives us a strong physical presence in the paint on defense and is also capable of helping us finish possessions with rebounds!"

Prior to her time in Grand Forks, Miller appeared in 30 games, making 18 starts at USC Upstate. For her collegiate career she has totaled 337 points and 318 rebounds in 61 games. She recorded four double-doubles last season at UND, and totaled career highs of 15 points (at Denver) and 18 rebounds (at Green Bay).

She was a two-sport prep standout at Mayo High School in Rochester, Minn. Where she was a multi time all conference basketball and volleyball player. She averaged over 16 points and eight rebounds per game for Mayo.
