VERMILLION, S.D. — Current Scott & Lisa Jones Family Offensive Coordinator Tim Morrison has been elevated to Associate Head Coach of South Dakota football, head coach Matt Vitzthum announced on Friday morning.
 
Morrison has been on staff for three seasons, joining then head coach Bob Nielson's staff in 2023. His first two seasons in Vermillion, he served as the tight ends coach and was promoted to the Scott & Lisa Jones Family Offensive Coordinator position under head coach Travis Johansen for the 2025 season.
 
"I am incredibly excited to name Tim (Morrison) our Associate Head Coach," said Vitzthum. "He has been a very integral part to the success of Coyote football the past three seasons. We will work closely to push our program forward."
 
All three seasons Morrison has been on staff, the Coyotes have won 10+ games and reached at least the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs.
 
In his first season as the offensive play caller, Morrison utilized the production of QB Aidan Bouman, RB L.J. Phillips Jr., and WR Larenzo Fenner as the offense found their stride in league play, winning six of their last seven games to make the FCS Playoffs for a third-straight season.
 
"I'm grateful for the past three years at USD," said Morrison. "I'm excited to support Coach Vitzthum, the rest of the staff, and our athletes as we continue to be our best every day."
 
In his three seasons working with the tight ends at South Dakota, Morrison coached First Team All-American in JJ Galbreath. Galbreath, who combined for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdown receptions in his two seasons with Morrison as his position coach, now enters his second season on the roster of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
 
Prior to his time in Vermillion, Morrison served as the Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Division II Upper Iowa for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He's also had stops at Grand Valley State, Wartburg, and Alleghany College.
 
Morrison was a four-year letter winner at Wartburg College (Iowa) from 1995-98 and was the starting fullback for former Coyote head coach Bob Nielson in 1998 at Wartburg. He and his wife, Betsy, have a daughter, Harper, and a son, Knox.
