Pesicka, Fischer Earn Summit League Women's Soccer Weekly Honors

08.18.2026

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.— South Dakota women's soccer earned a pair of Summit League weekly honors Tuesday as forward Kinsley Pesicka was named Offensive Player of the Week, and goalkeeper Cambell Fischer was selected as Defensive Player of the Week following an unbeaten opening weekend.

Pesicka made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut, scoring in each of South Dakota's first two matches. She found the back of the net in the Coyotes' 4-0 season-opening victory over Northern Iowa before scoring again in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Nebraska.

The freshman finished the weekend with two goals on three shots, converting on both of her shots on goal.

Fischer anchored the Coyotes in goal throughout the opening weekend, starting in both matches between the posts. She recorded a shutout against Northern Iowa, making three saves in the 4-0 victory, before making eight saves against Nebraska in Sunday's 1-1 draw.

The redshirt junior finished the weekend with 11 saves, a .917 save percentage and a 0.53 goals-against average while helping South Dakota limit its opponents to one goal across two matches.

This is the second time in program history that South Dakota has had both offensive and defensive players of the week in the same week.

South Dakota returns to action Thursday, Aug. 20, traveling to Wisconsin Green Bay for a 3 p.m. kickoff. The Coyotes then return home Sunday, Aug. 23, to host Morningside at 1 p.m. for their first home match of the season.
