VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota men's basketball head coach Eric Peterson has announced the addition of Jahni Summers to the 2026-27 roster. Th 6'6 guard transfers in as a senior from Sacramento State. 

Summers was one of three Hornets to appear in all 31 games, and his 30 starts were second most on the team. He averaged 9.9 points pe game and knocked down 57 3-pointers at a team best 42.0% clip. Summers also grabbed 2.5 rebounds and averaged 0.8 steals per game. Summers had 17 double-digit scoring games, including three 20-point games and a season-high 22 in a win over Weber State. He had a five-game from November 25 to December 22 where he went 21-of-32 from the 3-point line. Summer was a Big Sky All-Academic selection in 2025-26. 

Summers spent the 2024-25 season at Indiana State and played his freshman season at Coffeyville CC in Coffeyville, Kansas. He appeared in 20 games at Indiana State, averaging 5.7 points, 1.9 rebounds and shot 44.0% from the field and 39.0% from the 3-point line. While at Coffeyville, he was named the KJCCC Freshman of the Year and second team all-conference. He averaged 18.2 points per game, 4.5 rebounds and made 2.5 3-pointers per game. 

Played four years of varsity basketball for Harrison High School in Evansville, Indiana and one season of basketball for DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida in 2022-23.
