Campus Resources for Physical Wellness

  • The Wellness Center on campus is available to all students, and their hours can be found here.
  • South Dakota Sports Medicine is where Coyotes go to heal. This is the USD Sports Medicine home page with the staff, facility and resources all on this page.
  • All of the campus dining hours and different entities can be found here.
  • The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders.
  • NCAA Nutrition Resources -- The healthy performance of college athletes is foundational to the work of the NCAA Sport Science Institute. That's why we promote adequate nutrition, hydration, sleep, science-driven strength and conditioning efforts and the responsible use of supplements consistent with NCAA drug policies.
  • NCAA Sleep Resources is an excellent sleep management resource for student-athletes.
  • Drug Free Sport Axis is a great source for nutrition, health and wellness, and other dietary information.
  • The University of South Dakota offers victim advocacy with resources for sexual assault policies, sexual misconduct, and tips for what to do following an assault.

Examples of Activities that improve Physical Wellness

  • Engage in regular exercise/recreation outside of your competitive season
  • Get enough fitness and exercise
  • Go to the gym with a friend
  • Read nutrition labels
  • Adhere to a healthy balanced diet avoiding fads and non-research based trends
  • See your doctor for regular wellness check ups
  • Maintain positive healthy relationships

  • Do I know important health numbers like my cholesterol, weight, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels?
  • Am I overly concerned about my physical appearance that affects my mood, habits?
  • Do I get annual physical exams?
  • Do I avoid using tobacco and alcohol or other drugs?
  • Do I get sufficient amount of sleep?
  • Do I have an established exercise routine?
If you answered "no" to any of these questions, it may indicate an area where you can improve the state of your physical wellness.
