Kelton Copeland begins his second season as the wide receivers coach on the South Dakota football coaching staff. Copeland was named to the post July 25, 2011.

Copeland spent the previous four years on the Coffeyville Community College (Kan.) staff. In the spring of 2011, Copeland was promoted to offensive coordinator for the Ravens prior to taking the job in July at South Dakota. The Ravens had the best passing offense in the Jayhawk Confernce and ranked third in total offense last year and earned berths in bowl games the past two seasons.

A Miami, Fla., native, Copeland played at Emporia State from 1999-2002 where he started 26 games at quarterback for the Hornets. He finished his ESU career third all-time in total offensive yards and fourth in passing yards.

Copeland was a graduate assistant for the Hornets in 2003-2004 and also coached at Northwood University in Michigan in 2006.

He has a bachelor's degree from Emporia State and is married to Bridgette (Eldridge) a native of LaCygne, Kan. The couple have two daughters, Marlea Bree and Devyn Lee.
