Chris Kassin joined South Dakota's development staff in 2014 as the Assistant Director of Development.
Before entering his new role at the USD Foundation, Kassin was an assistant coach on South Dakota's men's basketball team for 11 years. In more than a decade of service, Kassin was involved in all aspects of the program including recruiting, practice preparation and scouting. His primary responsibilities on the court were the development of post players and his resume includes standout Coyotes like Turner Trofholz, Tyler Cain, Steve Smith and Trevor Gruis.
Kassin played for the Coyotes under head coach Dave Boots during the 2001-02 season when the team finished with a 19-8 record. Kassin was a student assistant the following year and was hired to be a graduate assistant prior to the 2003-04 campaign. He earned his master's degree in public administration in 2005.
South Dakota reached the NCAA Division II tournament in five of Kassin's first six seasons on staff. The team had a 225-139 record (.616), boasted seven 20-win seasons, and won two conference championships with Kassin on its bench.
Kassin is a native of Huron, S.D. He transferred to South Dakota after spending his first three seasons at Huron University where he was a member of three conference championship teams. While at HU, he was named an NAIA all-academic national performer.
Kassin is married to the former Kathryn Schwartz of Colome, S.D.
