Eric Johnson returns to the USD coaching staff, this time as Director of Basketball Operations. Johnson served two years as a graduate assistant under coach Dave Boots from 2008-10 and spent the 2010-11 season as an assistant coach for the Coyotes. Johnson spent the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons as an assistant coach at New Mexico Highlands University.

Johnson was a stand-out basketball player at Wayne State College and served as team captain during his junior and senior seasons. He earned his bachelor's degree from Wayne State in 2008 in speech communications with a concentration of organizational leadership and public relations. He earned his master's degree at USD in 2010 in athletic administration.

Among his duties as a coach, Johnson has been head video coordinator, pieced together numerous scouting reports and coordinated travel for road trips. He was on staff when the Coyotes won the 2010 Great West Conference regular season and tournament championships. His New Mexico Highlands team reached the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament in 2013.
