    Assistant Coach - Director of Scouting & Video
Joe Kramer was hired as the Director of Scouting and Video Operations in August of 2023. He enters his first season with South Dakota in the 2023-24 season.

Prior to being hired at USD, Kramer was a member of the University of Wisconsin-Superior coaching staff. His duties included recruiting, scouting, preparing and presenting film on opponents, aiding in recruit visits, and assisting the head coach with all other aspects of the program. On the court he was responsible for creating and operating small group and individual workouts, helping manage practice, offensive and defensive scheming, as well as in-game operations. 

During his time at UW-Superior, Kramer led five different players to a total of nine all-conference and all-defensive team selections. In the 2022-23 seasons, Kramer helped Josef Farenholtz achieve a first-team all-conference selection, as well as J'Vaun Walker with a second-team all-conference selection and an all-defensive team selection. In the 2022-23 season, the Yellowjackets made their way to the UMAC Conference Championship game while posting a 17-10 record, including an 87-76 victory over No. 8 ranked John Carroll University. 

A native of Elk River, Minn., Kramer started his collegiate playing career at William Penn University before finishing out his remaining three years at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Kramer was voted team captain his senior year at UW-Superior and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2021.Â
