Monte Ritchie

Monte Ritchie was named Director of Men's Basketball Operations at University of South Dakota in the summer of 2014. Ritchie joins the Coyotes after earning his master's degree in school administration at Wayne State College. He also served as a graduate assistant for the men's basketball team at Peru State for two seasons from 2012-14.

Ritchie hails from Nebraska City, Neb., and attended University of Nebraska in Lincoln as an undergrad. Ritchie was a basketball manager and an equipment manager for the Huskers' men's basketball program throughout his time in Lincoln. He graduated in the spring of 2012 with a major in mild/moderate special education.

Ritchie has been associated with Nebraska Select AAU since 2008. He was an assistant coach on the staff to top high school coaches from the state of Nebraska. He served as the team's head coach in the summers of 2013 and 2014 and helped the team to a championship at the Denver Tournament. He also helped coordinate the team's travel to 4-6 tournaments each summer.

While on staff at Peru State, Ritchie was heavily involved with recruiting, retention and eligibility. He worked a great deal on game planning, preparation and scouting. He also managed budgets and worked to develop in-season and off-season conditioning programs.

As director of operations, Ritchie is responsible for the daily assistance of the program, including team scheduling, travel, camps and marketing. He also serves as the liaison for the team on campus and in the community.
