Played four years for Van Meter High School ... ranked sixth in class 1A with a team-high 86.5 tackles in leading Van Meter to a state runner-up finish and 12-1 record ... earned first team all-state honors through the Des Moines Register and the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association as a senior ... named the District's MVP on defense ... two-time all-district pick ... earned academic all-state honors ... member of the National Honor Society
