South Dakota swimming and diving head coach Jason Mahowald named Eric Thurston as a graduate assistant for the Coyote swimming and diving program in 2014. The 2014-15 season will mark his first with the program.

An All-New England swimmer from Wallingford, Conn., Thurston coached several club teams in the northeast. He worked with the Brown Swim Camp in the summer of 2014, coached the Kingfish Rhode Island Swim Club from 2013-14 and coached the Swim Rhode Island Master's team in the summer of 2013. Thurston also worked as an aquatics intern at Roger Williams in 2013-14, recruiting athletes and running the HyTek & Meet Manager systems.

Thurston graduated from Roger Williams University in May 2014 with a B.A. in Classical Languages.
