South Dakota swimming and diving head coach Jason Mahowald named Meili Carpenter as the interim assistant dives coach for the 2014-15 season.

An eighth place finisher at the 2012 USA Diving Olympic Trials, Carpenter brings over seven years of diving experience to the South Dakota swimming and diving program. Carpenter spent last season coaching high school girls in Colorado on one-meter fundamentals and competition. She also spent three seasons as the assistant coach at Canisius College, earning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Diving Coach of the Year award for 2012. Carpenter has coached divers of all ages at various camps and on club teams.

Carpenter graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2009 with a B.A. in Chemistry and Psychology, then went on to earn her Master's in Education in 2010.
