Smolyczk, Moir Named NCC Divers of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Jill Smolyczk and Cole Moir of the South Dakota women's and men's swimming and diving team were named the North Central Conference Divers of the Week, according to an announcement today by the league office.

Smolyczk, a freshman from Omaha, Neb., was named the NCC Women's Diver of the Week after winning both the 1M and 3M diving competitions and qualified for nationals in both events to lead the South Dakota women's team to a 120 to 85 dual win at South Dakota State on Friday night. Smolyczk recorded 385.425 points to win the 1M-diving competition. She also captured top honors in the 3-M platform, recording a score of 284.7 points on six dives. Smolyczk's 3M mark broke the pool record at SDSU and also set a new school record at USD (263.25).

Moir, a junior from Cody, Wyo., was named the NCC Men's Diver of the Week after winning both boards to help lead the South Dakota men's swimming and diving team to a 123 to 88 dual decision over South Dakota State on Friday night in Brookings, S.D. With his performance, Moir qualified for nationals in both the 1M and 3M diving competitions. Moir recorded 456.6 points in winning the 1M diving competition. He had 466.05 points in winning the 3M competition against SDSU.
