OMAHA, Neb. -- The University of South Dakota swimming and diving teams are each in third place after the first day of the Northern Sun Championships which are being held in Omaha, Neb.
The USD women have 62 points, while the USD men have 16 points after the first day of competition.
For the Coyote women, Sara Holman (Sr., Bloomington, Minn.) placed third in the 1,000 freestyle after posting a time of 10:37.82. Holman finished just 5.21 out of first place in the race. Mary Holman (Sr., Bloomington, Minn.) was fifth in the 1,000 with a time of 10:40.48.
Janine James (Fr., Cheyenne, Wyo.) was sixth in the 1-meter diving with a score of 357.55.
Leading the USD men, Matt Weyer (Fr., Taos, N.M.) had a strong showing in the 1,000 freestyle, taking second at 10:03.50.
