South Dakota Swimming and Diving Teams Resume Friday at Home Against SDSU

Vermillion, S.D. -- The South Dakota swimming and diving teams resume action Friday against one of their biggest rivals, as the Coyotes entertain South Dakota State for a 6 p.m. dual.

It is the second matchup of the season between the two in-state foes. SDSU swept the first meeting in Brookings, S.D., on Nov. 20.

The Coyote men are coming off of a 130-100 dual win at Minnesota State, Mankato, while it is the first action for the Coyote women since Dec. 3-4 at the Falcon Invite.

Several Coyote swimmers and divers are ranked in the top 10 of the latest Summit League times:

Women Junior Elizabeth Hoffman (Eureka, S.D.) ranks second in the 50 free (24.05), second in the 100 free (51.38), second in the 100 butterfly (57.84), fourth in the 200 free (1:53.87), fifth in the 500 free (5:07.53), fifth in the 1,000 free (10:36.77), seventh in the 200 back (2:10.69) and seventh in the 400 IM (4:43.11).

Senior Rita Buschbacher (Brighton, Mich.) ranks fifth in the 50 freestyle (24.40), eighth in the 200 free (1:58.00) and ninth in the 100 free (53.78).

Sophomore Kaitlyn Jefferson (Westland, Mich.) is ranked fourth in the 100 freestyle (53.30) eighth in the 50 freestyle (24.52),

Senior Sallie Collins (Hastings, Minn.) ranks fifth in the 100 breaststroke, sixth in the 200 IM (2:11.35) and ninth in the 100 butterfly (59.26).

Freshman Mariah Anderson (Kearney, Neb.) ranks sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:00.31) and 10th in the 50 freestyle (24.58).

Freshman Linay McCrady (Savage, Minn.) is seventh in the 1,650 free (18:09.42) and is ninth in the 500 free (5:15.06). Sophomore Jackie Kahnke (Shakopee, Minn.) is 10th in the 1,650 at 18:31.28.

Junior Janine James (Cheyenne, Wyo.) is sixth in 1-meter diving (225.35) while junior Megan Schutt (Austin, Texas) is seventh (207.90). Senior Hannah Roetzel (Newcastle, Wyo.) is ninth in 1-meter diving (204.36). James is also fifth in 3-meter diving (236.33), while Roetzel is seventh (221.62) and freshman Megan Chmielewski (Shakopee, Minn.) is 10th (195.45).

Men Junior Chris Hause (Overland Park, Kan.) ranks first in the 3-meter diving (304.35) and second in the 1-meter diving (290.05).

Junior Terry Rolfe (Newcastle, Wyo.) ranks fifth in the 200 IM (1:56.28), sixth in the 400 IM (4:12.62), seventh in the 100 back (51.92) and seventh in the 200 back (1:56.13).

Junior Thad Stoddard (Douglas, Wyo.) ranks third in the 100 back (50.59), and sixth in the 200 free (1:42.51).

Freshman Dakota Wheeler (Oklahoma City, Okla.) is fourth in the 100 butterfly (51.40) and ninth in the 100 breaststroke (59.86).

Senior Bridger Miller (Upton, Wyo.) is fifth in the 100 breaststroke (59.05).

Freshman Jeffrey Libov (Omaha, Neb.) is eighth in the 1,650 free (17:12.08).

Senior Dane Van Arkel (Colorado Springs, Colo.) ranks 10th in the 50 freestyle (21.41), while junior Matthew Weyer (Taos, N.M.) ranks 10th in the 1,000 free (10:18.97). Freshman Alex Dayan (Papillion, Neb.) is 10th in the 200 breaststroke (2:13.03).
