VERMILLION, SD -- University of South Dakota sophomore kicker,
Kevin Robb, has been named the Great West Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference office announced. This is the second time this season Robb has earned the honor after he went 3 for 3 in field goals and 3 for 3 in PATs this past Saturday in a 30-0 win over Lindenwood University in the DakotaDome.
Robb, a native of Rapid City, S.D., is a perfect 9 for 9 in field goals this season and is 15 for 16 in PATs. He leads the team with 42 points scored. His three field goals against Lindenwood tied his career-high for field goals in a game set three weeks earlier versus then-No. 1 Eastern Washington. The Coyotes upset the Eagles 30-17 as Robb connected on three, second half field goals to preserve the lead.
Robb is tied for sixth nationally and leads the conference in field goals per game at a 1.80 clip.
This is the fourth weekly honor for the Coyotes this season. Sophomore Tyler Starr (Little Rock, Iowa) and senior Adam Broders (Bloomfield, Neb.) also have earned the honor. Robb is the first multi-recipient for the Coyotes this season.
For the week, North Dakota's Jake Miller became the first football athlete in conference history to be named Offensive Player of the Week three straight weeks as UND upset No. 19/17 Southern Utah in Cedar City, Utah, with a 26-20 win Saturday. Miller's teammate, Dan Hendrickson, won Defensive Player of the Week honors with 13 total tackles including eight solo stops. Miller posted his third consecutive 100-yard rushing effort.
South Dakota opens its final Great West Conference season Saturday, Oct. 8 at home against Southern Utah in the annual Dakota Days game. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the DakotaDome.
