Vermillion, S.D. - South Dakota head track and field coaches Dave Gottsleben and Lucky Huber announced 13 student-athletes have signed a National Letter of Intent to compete as
Coyotes beginning in the fall of 2011. USD will also sign several student-athletes in the spring after state track meets.
"This is probably the most gifted group of student-athletes that we've brought in to the University of South Dakota track program," Huber said. "Throughout their prep careers, these athletes have shown they have the dedication and talent to excel and we expect them to continue that as Coyotes now."
USD's 2011 class is highlighted by several nationally-ranked recruits, including the nation's No. 1 and No. 2 female pole vaulters who became Coyotes. The group is rounded out by student-athletes with extended accomplishments from state championships to junior Olympic competition. The class includes six natives of South Dakota and student-athletes from a total of seven states.

Seth Boomsma - Sprints, Crooks, S.D. (Tri-Valley HS)
One of the top sprinters in Class A...as a junior finished second in the 100 and 200 meters at the state track meet...placed seventh in the 200 meters as a sophomore....earned multiple state track medals on relays...qualified for 2010 USATF National Junior Olympics in Sacramento, Calif., in the 100 meters...personal bests include 10.8 in the 100 meters and 22.18 in the 200 meters...holds school records in the 100 meters, 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400...also qualified for state cross country meet as a sophomore...coached by Mark Acheson....son of Terry and Stacey Boomsma...born on July 9, 1992.
Molly Ervin - Hurdles/Sprints, Sioux Falls, S.D. (Washington HS)
A hurdle and relay specialist for coaches Everett Gebhart and Lenae Harrison...as a junior earned three all-state honors at the state track meet. Placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, fifth in the 300-meter hurdles and second in the 4x400-meter relay...also a member of the 4x400-meter relay that placed second at the Howard Wood Relays...owns personal best of 15.8 in the 100-meter hurdles, 46.2 in the 300-meter hurdles and 58.9 in the 400 meters...born on June 9, 1993...daughter of Sean and Patrice Ervin.
Amber Ewers - Sprints/Middle Distance, Columbus, Neb. (Scotus Central Catholic HS)
A two-time state champion in the 400 meters...as a junior won the 400 meters with the fastest time in the state (57.4)...as a sophomore won the 200 meters, 400 meters and 4x100-meter relay state titles...also holds school records in all three events...earned all-state honors in cross country as a junior...holds personal bests of 12.3 in the 100 meters, 24.5 in the 200 meters, 57.4 in the 400 meters and 2:22 in the 800 meters...coached by Janet Tooley...born on Feb. 12, 1993...daughter of Gary and Kathy Ewers.
Emily Grove - Pole Vault, Pontiac, Ill. (Pontiac Township HS)
The top-ranked pole vaulter in the nation according to Dyestat.com... has cleared 13-1...as a junior won the state championship... also placed seventh in the 4x200-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay...as a sophomore finished fourth in the pole vault at the state meet...also participated in cross country and volleyball...born on May 22, 1993...daughter of Doug and Brenda Grove.
Erik Hill - Hurdles/Sprints, Tea, S.D. (Tea Area HS)
Earned five all-state honors in the hurdles during his prep career...as a junior at the state track meet finished second in the 110-meter hurdles and eighth in the 300-meter hurdles...as a sophomore claimed second in the 300-meter hurdles and third in the 110-meter hurdles...as a freshman finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles...finished 16th in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2010 USATF National Junior Olympics in Sacramento, Calif., in the 400-meter hurdles after winning the regional meet in the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles...owns personal bests of 14.40 in the 110-meter hurdles, 39.00 in the 300-meter hurdles and 49.60 in the 400 meters...also a four-year letterwinner in football and was a special mention in the Argus Leader's 2010 Elite 45...coached by Ryan Decker...son of Jim and Paula Hill...born on December 8, 1992.
Analisa Huschle - Sprints/Jumps, Bagley, Minn. (Bagley HS)
One of the top jumpers in the state of Minnesota...is a 13-time all-state performer, including six individual titles...as a junior won the long jump and triple jump and placed second in the 200 meters and 4x200-meter relay...named the Gatorade Minnesota Track and Field Athlete of the Year and USATF High School Athlete of the Year...also helped her team win the state team title...as a sophomore finished first in the long jump, triple jump and 200 meters and second in the 4x200-meter relay...as a freshman won the triple jump and finished second in the 200 meters...owns the Minnesota Class A triple jump records in 38-3...owns the Minnesota all-time state long jump records in 19-2 1/4...owns seven school records, including 5-6 in the high jump...lettered all three years in track and cross country...born Nov. 5, 1992....daughter of Daniel and Kimberly Huschle.
Josee Jansen - Middle Distance/Distance, Sioux City, Iowa (Sioux City North HS)
A versatile runner with range from 800 to 4,000 meters...has qualified for the Iowa state track meet in the 800 and 1,500 meters the last two years...has earned multiple all-conference honors in track and cross country...owns personal bests of 2:21 in the 800 meters and 4:56 in the 1,500 meters...also an all-conference, all-region and all-district basketball player...in the classroom has earned multiple academic all-conference accolades...coached by Tom Roberts...born on June 29, 1992...daughter of Steve and SuZann Jansen.
Kyle McKelvey - Throws, Beresford, S.D. (Beresford HS)
A two-time state champion in the shot put....as a junior at the state track meet won the shot put with a toss of 61-9 1/2 and finished second in the discus in 168-3....both throws were school records...shot put mark is currently the 11th best all-time in South Dakota prep history...as a sophomore won the shot put in 55-1....as a freshman placed fourth in the shot put in 53-4 3/4...placed third in intermediate division of the shot put at the 2008 USATF National Junior Olympics with a toss of 52-1 1/4...won the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in the shot put as a junior and sophomore...placed in the top seven at the event three other times...holds numerous meet records...also competed in football and basketball during his prep career...earned three all-conference honors on the football team as a four-year starter...holds two school records and was named offensive MVP three times...named all-conference once on the basketball court...coached by Matt Coy and Mikala Zimmerman...son of Dennis and Kelly McKelvey...born on July 15, 1992.
