This week in Coyote athletics 
VERMILLION, S.D.--South Dakota men's basketball will travel to Iowa and Ball State while women's basketball hosts Dakota State before traveling to Kansas State this week in Coyote athletics.
Men's basketball (4-4, 1-1 Summit League) is coming off an 88-68 league win against IUPUI on Saturday that pushed its home record to 3-1 on the season. Juevol Myles (Ajax, Ontario) scored a career-high 26 points on 8-of-13 shooting against IUPUI, including a perfect 7-7 from the field and 5-5 from the foul line in the first half. South Dakota held a 42-27 rebounding advantage against the Jaguars.
Iowa (6-2, 0-0 Big Ten) is unblemished at home on the season. Roy Devyn Marble tops the Hawkeyes in scoring (14.5 per game) and assists (3.5 per game), while Aaron White is second in scoring (12.8) and first in rebounding (6.5).
Ball State (2-4, 0-0 Mid-American Conference) is in the midst of a four-game losing streak, but the Cardinals have a date with Holy Cross before Saturday's matchup with the Coyotes. Jesse Berry's 14 points per contest are a team-best.
Women's basketball (3-5, 0-0 Summit League) welcomes Dakota State to the DakotaDome for a 7 p.m. game on Tuesday before making the trip to Manhattan, Kan., to take on the Kansas State Wildcats.
Saturday the Coyotes exploded offensively against Utah Valley as they brought head coach Amy Williams her 100th career victory. Nicole Seekamp (Renmark, South Australia) scored a career-high 27 points while Polly Harrington (Kansas City, Mo.) notched her first double-double of the season (16 points, 11 rebounds). South Dakota dominated the glass, holding a 47-36 rebound advantage.
Dakota State (3-5) is an independent NAIA school from Madison, S.D. Katy Pillar scores slightly less than 13 points per game on 55 percent shooting while Alyson Drooger has blocked 23 shots on the season.
Brittany Chambers leads Kansas State (5-0, 0-0 Big 12) in scoring (19.6 points per game), rebounding (7.6), assists (3.2) and three-point field goals (3.6) and has played all but three minutes of the season. Kansas State was an NCAA Tournament qualifier last season.
Swimming and diving competed in the Rochester Invitational in Rochester, Minn., on Saturday and Sunday, where the women scored 1,367.5 points to finish second out of 11 teams and the men scored 563 points to finish third out of eight teams. Shannon Moceri (South Lyon, Mich.) broke two school records, finishing the 100-yard breaststroke one minute, 2.64 seconds and the 200 breaststroke in 2:20.18. The Coyotes won four individual events and had 16 top-three finishes for the meet.
Swimming and diving will not compete in another meet until Jan. 11, when they host Morningside in the DakotaDome. Head coach Jason Mahowald will take his team on an 11-day training trip to Mesa, Ariz., from Dec. 27 to Jan. 6.
