Derickson wins high jump at Dordt Invite

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa â€" Taryn Derickson won the women's high jump while Cody Linder, Christena Georgas and Kyle McKelvey all recorded second-place finishes at the Dordt Invite on Saturday.

Derickson won the high jump with a height of 5-4½, which is her top height this season and ranks seventh in the Summit League. Her previous high was 5-3. Teammate Jessica Arnold placed third in the event at 5-0½.

Cody Linder finished second in the men's triple jump with a 47-4¼, which is his best mark this season. Linder ranks second on the Summit League performance list with that mark.

USD had a pair of throwers place second. Christena Georgas was second in the women's weight throw at 52-4¾ and Kyle McKelvey finished second in the men's shot put at 54-7¼. Cody Snyder followed McKelvey in third at 53-4¼.

USD also received season-bests from Chad Pinkelman in the men's long jump (fifth, 22-0¾), Breanna Janovy in both the women's shot put (third, 45-10) and women's weight throw (fifth, 49-10½) and Denton Stephens in the men's weight throw (fifth, 55-5).

South Dakota will host the USD Open on Feb. 15 at the DakotaDome.
