Summit League Food Fight underway

Jan. 28, 2014

VERMILLION, S.D.—The University of South Dakota is competing in the 2014 Summit League Food Fight, a non-perishable food drive that began this week and runs through Feb. 7.

All food and cash donations will be donated to the Vermillion Food Pantry, which offers food supplies to low or moderate-income families in Clay County. Fans are encouraged to bring food items or to make a monetary donation at any or all of the Coyotes' upcoming home athletic events:

Thursday, Jan. 30 – men's basketball vs. North Dakota State at 7 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 1 – men's basketball vs. South Dakota State at 4 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 4 – men's basketball vs. Peru State at 7 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 7 – women's basketball vs. Denver at 7 p.m.

The Summit League Food Fight is a competition amongst all Summit League members to see which institution can collect the highest number of pounds of food for their local pantry. Every $5 cash donation equates to 13 pounds of food. At the end of the competition, all canned food is weighed and cash is added to determine USD's total pounds of food collected.
