VERMILLION, S.D.—The University of South Dakota athletic department has announced that Coyote football will open the 2017 season at Drake on Sept. 2 and take on Bowling Green the following week, Sept. 9, in Ohio.
 
Originally, USD was scheduled to open at Bowling Green and then take on Drake. The schedule was changed to accommodate a Bowling Green season opener at Michigan State on Sept. 2.
 
The Coyotes' home opener against North Dakota on Sept. 16 concludes non-conference play. South Dakota will have a bye week for Sept. 23 before beginning Missouri Valley Football Conference play Sept. 30 at Western Illinois.
